Glen Lake Camp Bible Retreat for 5th & 6th Graders — January 16-17:

Bridging the Gap: Connecting Church & Academy — January 22-24: Early American Methodists had a vision to establish learning institutions around the nation. Bridging the Gap was developed out of the discussion of “Are Methodist institutions rooted in the original beliefs and values from which they were established?” and who attends these institutions. One of the five events developed around these concerns — one in each of the jurisdictions — will be held January 22 at the Arlington Sheraton Hotel (1500 Convention Drive, Arlington, Tex. 76011). It is designed for leaders with the UMC, specifically those who work with young people and the leaders with all of its church-related colleges and universities. This includes:

• conference youth coordinators • youth ministers and volunteers

• Christian education leaders • chaplains

• church relations directors • admissions/financial aid directors

• deans / presidents • conference connectional ministers

• chairs of higher education • district superintendents / bishops

Under discussion will be the history of Wesley and higher education, development of student leadership, vocation and discernment, resources through church relationships, and opportunities from UM loans and scholarships. For more details, visit www.gbhem.org/bridgingthegap.

District Leadership Training will be held on January 25^th from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be at the Early church. Be watching for more details that will come soon. They were not available by newsletter publication time.

Registration for Mid-Winter is now open! Mid-Winter is the annual weekend youth retreat held in February at Glen Lake Camp & Retreat Center. There will be two dates from which to choose — February 7-8 for the 2-day event and February 20-22 for the 3-day event.
