Advent Is Here
The first Sunday of Advent will be November 30. During this season of remembering the gift of the Christ Child and His promised return, we will be lighting the advent candles during worship each Sunday morning. On the first Sunday of Advent the children will receive the gift of a book about Christmas.
On the evening of December 3 beginning at 6:00 p.m. we will have the “Hanging of the Greens” followed by the traditional, annual Early FUMC Christmas party. The “Hanging of the Greens” will be a time of worship in the sanctuary. We will recall what the advent season is all about and complete the decorating of the sanctuary for this holy time. Following that worship service, we will adjourn to the family life center for a light meal. We will pack boxes to send to our military. Information about those boxes has been distributed throughout November. In addition to eating and remembering those who are serving our country, we will have a visit from Santa Claus.
On December 9, the Zephyr Church will have their annual Christmas celebration. We will meet in the fellowship hall at 6:00 p.m. for a wonderful Christmas meal together. It will be a time to relax and enjoy one another as we launch into our busy schedules and activities. What better way to move into Advent than sharing time, food and fellowship with one another.
We will be celebrating one of the most significant worship times with one another on Christmas Eve. It is a special opportunity to invite others to be a part of our Christmas celebration. Right now make your list and check it twice for those people you might invite to Christmas Eve Communion and Candlelight. After you have made the list, extend a warm invitation to this spirit filled time together. Choose a service that best fits your schedule. If it is not already a family tradition, it should be.
