Meet Our New Bishop

Bishop Mike Lowry was consecrated on Saturday, July 19, 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Dallas and will report for work in the Central Texas Conference on September 1.
The Reverend Dr. John Michael (Mike) Lowry graduated from Earlham College in 1972 in Richmond, Indiana. He received a Master of Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in 1976 and a Doctor of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminar in 1985.
He was ordained a Deacon in the Northern Illinois Conference in 1974 and ordained an Elder in the Southwest Texas Conference in 1978. He served as an Associate Pastor at Plymouth Park in Irving, Pastor of St. Paul’s in Kerrville, Senior Pastor of Wesley in Harlingen, Asbury in Corpus Christi, Bethany in Austin, and University United Methodist Church in San Antonio. He is currently the Executive Director for New Church Development and Transformation for the Southwest Texas Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
His wife, Jolynn, teaches psychiatric nursing at The University of Incarnate Word. They are the parents of a son Nathan living in the Boston area and a daughter Sarah and son-in-law Steven Meek living in Atlanta.
