Promises to Keep

When United Methodist’s join a local church either by profession of faith or transfer of their membership, they are asked to support that church with their prays, their presents, their gifts and their service. That is a promise we make. The people of the Early church have also made a promise in the mission statement they have adopted. In its brief form we simply state, “Working hands, caring hearts, sharing God’s love.” By being a part of the Early church we promise that our mission is to be disciples of Jesus Christ making disciples of Jesus Christ through working hands (outreach), caring hearts (nurture), and sharing God’s love (witness).

We are launching into a campaign to keep those promises. We will be calling the campaign “Promises to Keep.” We will be asking questions such as:

Do I understand the Mission of the United Methodist Church?

Am I willing to support the ministry of my church?

What do I know about the spiritual dynamics of money?

What is God calling me to give regardless of what others may or may not do?

You will be hearing the personal testimonies each Sunday of some of those among us who take seriously God’s call to be faithful and generous in our giving. You will be invited to participate in a small group gathering to share in food, fellowship and faithfulness. You are invited to begin in this very moment to pray for Promises to Keep. Pray that God might work in you and open your heart and mind to what God might call you to do. Pray that the Holy Spirit would fill us all with a sense of awe for what God has done for us. Pray that God might reveal to you just how blessed you are. Please pray that ultimate prayer of all prayers, that God’s will be done.
