District Opportunity Here

Many of you have accepted spiritual leadership roles within our churches. Our churches will be the very best they can be only when our leaders serve the very best they can serve. To help you be your best, the Brownwood District is offering a training event, Sunday afternoon, January 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Brownwood District

Training Event

January 27

3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Central UMC

All of us can learn more about General Conference. Want to know more about General Conference? Make plans to attend the Brownwood District Training Event to be held at Central UMC. Bliss Dodd, one of our lay delegates to the 2008 General Conference and delegate to a previous General Conference, will offer insights to the issues that are expected to be addressed in Fort Worth.

Anyone who is a member of our Church Council is encouraged to attend the training session led by Rev. Karen Granderson. Karen works with churches throughout our annual conference and will be able to share the basics, the similarities and the differences. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain information that can make you a better leader in your church.

There will be a session offered to members of the Board of Trustees. Rev. Kay Hawkins will come from the Cogdell Memorial UMC in Waco to help us understand the importance of the work of this committee. There is far more to the work of our trustees than mowing grass and repairing plumbing.

The members of the Finance Committee can better appreciate their responsibilities as Rev. Harvey Ozmer, the Director of the Conference Office of Stewardship, Finance and Administration, brings his vast knowledge of church finances. Every member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee is encouraged to join our District Superintendent, Rev. Jim Olney, so that you might fully understand your responsibilities and faithfully serve.
